James (Jim) Gill brings more than 17 years of real estate accounting and finance expertise to his role as Vice President of Finance for CapRock Partners, where he oversees all accounting, finance and investor reporting activities. In this role, Gill is responsible for the reporting functions for all of the CapRock Partners Funds, for interacting with CapRock’s various institutional capital partners as well as the firm’s lender relationships. He is a key liaison for CapRock Partners and its investors, capital partners and outside stakeholders regarding fund-level as well as underlying investment level matters.
Prior to joining CapRock Partners, Gill served as Vice President & Controller and Partner for Buchanan Street Partners. He was responsible for accounting, risk management, information technology and space planning functions while at Buchanan Street Partners. In his 12+ years at Buchanan Street Partners, Gill was instrumental in the firm’s majority interest sale to Trust Company of the West (The TCW Group) in 2007, at which time Buchanan Street has in excess of $2 Billion of assets under management. In his accounting role, Gill was responsible for the reporting of Buchanan Funds to both institutional investors (including public & private pensions, insurance companies, domestic & international banking institutions and corporations) and high net worth investors (various High Net Worth Family Offices).
From 2009 to 2012, Gill and his team were able to reposition an under performing portfolio of Class A multitenant Office Portfolio in Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Utah totaling in excess of 700,000 square feet for the U.S. Trust (the private banking division of Bank of America). He received the Buchanan Street Partners highest honor, The Buchanan Award twice during his tenure, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the company. He also served as a founding board member of Buchanan Children’s Charities from 2007 to 2012.
Prior to Buchanan Street Partners, Gill held a corporate position with the Phoenix Suns professional basketball organization for five years. Gill earned both a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Business Administration in Finance from Arizona State University. He lives with his wife and three children in Ladera Ranch.
